  • SpeedX launched in 2022 and has already delivered more than 30 million parcels according to a Supply Chain Dive story. SpeedX’s delivery coverage concentrates on densely populated markets, but it contracts with the U.S. Postal Service to reach more rural markets as well. SpeedX launched a zone-skipping service in April which offers two-day and three-day delivery from origin airports to destination markets SpeedX serves, tapping into facilities the company has at major gateways across the country.
  • UPS’ subsidiaries ConnectShip and Delivery Solutions are now offering ConnectShip users same-day delivery capabilities. The new component connects users with same-day delivery options such as Roadie, Uber, Skipcart, DoorDash, Delivery Solutions Point Pickup Same-Day Delivery and Shipt.

Meanwhile, Walmart continues to grow its last-mile delivery service – From Walmart’s Q1 earnings transcript on May 16:

  • “We also introduced on-demand early morning delivery to customer doorsteps as early as 7 a.m. and as quickly as 30 minutes. Globally, same-day delivery is available from more than 6,500 locations. In Walmart U.S., over the last 12 months, 4.4 billion items were delivered same or next day, with about 20% of those delivered in under three hours. Delivery times are getting faster, and the cost of delivery is coming down at the same time, “ Doug McMillon – President and Chief Executive Officer
